To all the aspiring creatives

I saw this on Facebook and just had to pinch it, I couldn't have said it better myself! This industry is tough, I see so many people start out with all the right intentions but then fail because they let all of this get to them, you HAVE to just keep going and believe in yourself. I've been through it all, it's hard work! But persevere and believe me it will all be worth it because there is nothing better than doing something everyday that you love, and it is the best feeling ever seeing your work in a magazine, or on stage, on the screen etc. This industry isn't for the light hearted, it's a bitch! It's fast paced and forever changing. Alot of people don't realise just how tough it can be, But it is also the most amazing industry to work in <3

"Just a little note to all of the creative people going through the utter shite-horse of starting right at the bottom of the ladder, doing something that they want to do.

You will be shat on, exploited, lied to and mucked around when you're just starting out. Maybe for several years. You will be disregarded when you're talking sense, pushed aside for more important people and other people will take credit for your hard work. You will work really hard on things that turn out to be shit. You'll be dead embarrassed about that and cringe when people bring it up. That will absolutely happen quite regularly at first, and you'll wonder if any of it is worth your time & how bloody painful & knackering it is to your self-esteem.

You will go through hell. Your boyfriend or girlfriend will moan at you a lot, and so will your friends and parents. You might even end a relationship because of it. You will be stupidly skint at times. You will do the occasional stupid, dangerous thing because of it. You will worry about your life and your career. You will be tempted to pack it all in.

But one day, if you figure it all out and keep going, you'll be working with super-talented, absolutely lovely people and partners, that appreciate all of the things you learned during your time in the trenches. You will be paid. You will be appreciated. You will make fantastic friends and work with wonderful, inspiring people. You will see your work in galleries or in people's homes or on the big screen. And when you look around you at the amazing things going on in your life, you will know that you were right to keep going, and that it was not only worth it, but the only thing you really wanted.

Don't let the bastards get you down! And try to give others a hand up sometimes."

I don't know who wrote this awesomeness otherwise I would credit them, but a massive high five to whoever you are!
I often get asked how I got into this industry, so I will soon be writing a blog with some advice and tips for any aspiring Hair Stylists and/or Makeup Artists. If you have any questions or anything you would like to know regarding this, please feel free to get in touch and I'll try cover everything :)
